What is next?

My plans are :

  1. To work on extending how the bookmarks work (so they can be "merged").
  2. I would like it to remember the last page displayed and re-display it when it starts (so you can check the bus time, read a book, then check the time again very easily).
Unfortunately, my laptop was stolen, so work has slowed until I get a replacement (it was insured!). I didn't lose any PDX Bus files! (Phew - I'm glad I had a backup and a remote cvs repository).

New version went live!

So finally the new version went live. It has been through some major changes, including location services, multiple stop support, streetcar support, alerts and a link to this blog!

Locatin services was tricky - I wanted to make it really simple (not too many options) but also make it useful. I hope I got the balance right.

New version submitted; two more features are coming!

I have submitted a new version to Apple. It has the following updates:
  • Added times for the Portland Streetcar;
  • Added pages for Rider Alerts and a list of all detours;
  • Added links to route schedules and maps for each route;
  • Added link to support web page;
  • Fixed several bugs; improved stability.
I have two more features I am working on: (1) a location based stop finder feature (2) the ability to display arrivals for multiple stops at a time. These will take a little longer, but I am excited by the feedback so far and so have several ideas on how I am going to do these features. Watch this space!

Finished implementing Streetcar support

So, I have finished work on the Streetcar stuff and have tested it
against the web site to make sure it matches. Now I have some testing
to do to ensure it is stable enough for release... Glamourous work!

Streetcar Times

It turns out that Portland Streetcar times are on a different system
to TriMet's and they don't publish them via the same API. However, a
very kind person has explained how I can get that data into the
application, so now I'm working on that...

App Store Picture

Here is what the app looks like in the app store. I am already testing an updated version that will include rider alerts and links to TriMet's web pages. Watch this space!

PDX Bus has gone live!

The app is now in the app store - see the link on the right too.  I wonder how many people will actually use it?
